Week of May 6, 2019

English:
We continued our learning objective of making inferences from text. We finished reading Malik Had a Home (readingaz text) and made inferences from the story.

UOI:
This week we analyzed the story of Ruby Bridges, an African-American child that helped to integrate schools in New Orleans, USA. We analyzed the following: who were the members of societies, what were their beliefs and values, and how were members of society affected by their beliefs and values.

 Also, students presented the research on the actions of certain societies and how it was reflective of their beliefs and values.

Week of April 22, 2019

To conclude our discussion of caring (learner profile of the month), students visited the infants and toddler room to play with them. Socializing with younger kids is a good way to develop empathy and demonstrate caring.

                  


English:
Students continued the learning objective of using explicit and implicit details to make inferences about the text. We used picture inferencing cards and Malik Had a House (readingaz text) to work on that skill.
